My Dog Hates The Rain

We Need It

Living in Southern California has all kinds of advantages. One of the biggest is the weather, it’s gorgeous here 99.99% of the time. Sometimes it rains, but it’s rare and it almost never affects our daily lives. There will be some accidents as the rain brings up all the oil on the roads, but avoiding accidents is fairly easy; just don’t go anywhere while it’s wet out. At least that’s what I do.

Today we are on our third straight day of some fairly consistent rain. I personally like the rain, because we need it, and I like to look at green hills and green trees. Spending the early part of my life in the midwest, weather was a part of our daily life. In California we basically only look at the temperature or the surf report and go about our daily routines. So when it rains, all hell breaks loose.

But We Hate It

As much as I like it, and I know we need it, it still stinks when it lasts for days on end. It can also become somewhat disasterous. Because we have frequent fires, when it rains it means that we get mud slides, and not the alcoholic ones you can get at TGIF. Most of the drivers also forget how to use common sense when driving. Accidents everywhere and driving in general sucks.

But, we do need the rain. It is very nice to walk outside and see green hills. We don't have that often, and it's wonderful see when out walking or driving around. Hopefully this last storm lifts us out of the severe drought we've been in for a while. The lakes and resivours need to fill up a little.

More To Come

This current storm doesn't appear to be the last of the rain for us. Apparently there is a super cyclone or something like that headed our way. I'm sure the news outlets will pump the story up. I haven't seen anything like "Storm Watch 2023", but I'm sure those creative minds are working overtime to get something out.

For now I'll sit back and enjoy the cooler temperatures and the free car wash.
